Set the mood of your home!

Something to think about over the next month or so is the ambience of your home as the darker nights draw in and the clocks go back – and this can be easily achieved with the way you light up or in fact down-light your home!

Every room in your house deserves the right kind of lighting to complement that room’s purpose; a bedroom should be a place to rest & relax, an office should be bright & airy, the snug should be cosy & perhaps a little subdued.

You’ll often hear interior designers talking about a taking a ‘layered’ approach when it comes to lighting. This means that in order to set the tone of a particular room you should mix different types of light to create interest, ambience and practicalities – whether that’s combining a hanging pendant with wall lights or a chandelier and a floor lamp the options are endless to set the mood of the room and give the desired effect of the space.

When it comes to the design of the light or lamp, be sure to choose something that is in keeping with your current decoration and sympathetic to the property. Although lamps can be a fantastic statement piece and, in some case, more of a decorative ornament, it’s important to ensure it is not too over powering within the space.
